Abstract
The inclusion of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the education sector has revolutionized how university students write academic texts and communicate digitally, offering possibilities for improving learning processes but also posing challenges related to ethics, originality, and the development of academic skills. In this context, the objective of this research was to analyze university students' perceptions of the use of artificial intelligence in academic writing and digital communication. A quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted. Participants were university students who completed a structured questionnaire validated through reliability analysis and expert judgment. Descriptive statistical methods were used to process the data and identify trends and patterns in the responses. The results showed that most participants consider artificial intelligence a useful tool for optimizing the organization of ideas, correcting grammar, searching for information, and increasing efficiency in the development of academic work. A favorable assessment was also given to its contribution to digital communication by enabling interaction and content creation. However, the students expressed concern about technological dependence, the potential decline in critical thinking, and the dangers associated with the misuse of these tools. The conclusion is that artificial intelligence is considered an important tool in university education, provided it is used responsibly and ethically.
