Abstract

This article examines leadership in the effectiveness of community self-management practices in the Sancán Commune. The main objective was to analyze how leadership impacts the implementation and success of these practices, which are fundamental to the community's sustainable development. The methodology used was mixed, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. Descriptive research was conducted, employing deductive, inductive, analytical, and synthetic methods. The study population consisted of 306 community members, who were surveyed to collect quantitative data. In addition, an interview was conducted with the president of the Commune to gain insight into leadership and its relationship to self-management. The results indicate that leadership plays a relevant role in the effectiveness of community self-management practices. Participatory and committed leadership was observed to foster collaboration and empowerment among community members. Furthermore, challenges related to poor leadership training and resistance to change in some community sectors were identified. In conclusion, the study highlights the importance of leadership in promoting effective self-management practices in the Sancán Commune, strengthening leadership skills within the community and fostering an inclusive and participatory approach that involves all social stakeholders. This approach will not only improve the effectiveness of community self-management initiatives but will also contribute to the comprehensive development of this sector.
