CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY MODEL TO THE SDGS (AGENDA 2030). A PERSPECTIVE FROM LOCAL GOVERNANCE

Abstract
The article analyzes the contributions of the circular economy model to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, from the perspective of local governance. The circular economy emerges as an alternative to the linear model, prioritizing waste reduction, material reuse, and natural resource regeneration. The research, based on a qualitative approach and the phenomenological paradigm, combines documentary review, theoretical triangulation, and semi-structured interviews to interpret how this model connects with the SDGs at the local level. Findings indicate that the circular economy directly contributes to several SDGs: poverty reduction through labor-intensive local economies; food security and sustainable agriculture; health and well-being by reducing toxicity; quality education by promoting training in circular practices; and environmental sustainability through renewable energy, responsible consumption, and climate action. Likewise, local governance stands out as a key axis for coordinating social actors, public companies, and citizens in participatory processes that foster sustainable policies. The circular economy, supported by strong local governance, represents a strategic pathway to achieving the SDGs, enhancing economic resilience, social justice, and environmental sustainability.
