STRUCTURAL GOVERNANCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF UNIVERSITY INFORMATION

Abstract

This paper reviews the main governance models, emerging technologies, and organizational structures that influence the development and management of university information. Information governance has gained relevance in universities by offering structures that align information with institutional objectives, improving decision-making, and ensuring data security. In addition, technologies such as cloud storage, database management systems, big data, and artificial intelligence are explored, which optimize the management of large volumes of academic data. These technologies allow not only to improve administrative processes, but also to perform predictive analysis that can positively impact strategic planning. The article also analyzes the impact of different organizational structures on the management of university information, highlighting how hierarchical, matrix, and flat structures affect the efficiency of information flow and the ability of universities to adapt to technological changes. Finally, the implications of adopting governance models and technologies in the context of higher education are discussed, and the importance of a flexible organizational structure that facilitates innovation is underlined. This review provides a comprehensive view on how universities can improve their information management through the implementation of advanced technologies and appropriate governance.
