CURRENT TRAFFIC REGULATIONS IN ECUADOR AND CITIZEN BEHAVIOR

Review article analyzes the effectiveness of traffic regulations in reducing road accidents and their impact on citizen behavior in Ecuador. Various theoretical frameworks, including deterrence theory, social learning theory, social conformity theory, planned action theory, and legitimacy theory, are explored to understand how traffic laws influence behavior. of drivers and pedestrians. The review of studies and statistical data reveals that, although regulations have contributed to a significant decrease in accidents, their effectiveness varies depending on factors such as the severity of sanctions, road infrastructure, enforcement of laws, and the perception of justice and legitimacy. of the legal system. Likewise, the importance of road safety education campaigns and community participation in promoting a culture of safety and respect on the roads is highlighted. It is concluded that a comprehensive strategy that combines effective sanctions, continuing education and improvements in infrastructure can improve regulatory compliance and further reduce road accidents in Ecuador.
