THE RIGHT TO EMIGRATE: LATIN AMERICAN MIGRATION CRISIS

Abstract

Regarding the migration crisis in Latin America, the situation that occurs in Ecuador is not different from the rest of the countries on this continent, since the endogenous mobilization from the countryside to the city has also contributed to the increase in the displacement of Ecuadorian migrants. Hence, the objective of this study is: Analyze the right to emigrate and the Latin American migration crisis, with a focus on Ecuador. To do this, a bibliographic and documentary methodology was followed, making a systemic review with well-defined inclusion, exclusion and quality criteria. The results that were derived come from the answers to the questions raised related to the reasons for mobilization, the exogenous or local conditions of the mobilization, the vital reasons that lead to the breaking point to make the decision to emigrate, the government policies for the migrant attention, the situations presented by unplanned migration, the impact of population massification on the growth of underdeveloped countries and the problems that arise from migration. It is concluded that, although many countries have generated policies for the care of migrants, the future of migration that is expressed at present is contradictory and complex, since their entry protocols have intensified, as well as the deterioration in the conditions of the management of the migratory process, or simply the reluctance of governments to take action to protect migrants, which is a mitigating factor that curtails the protection of their rights.
