INTERPRETATION OF THE AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITY SUPPORTED BY THE TRAINING AND ADEQUATE PRACTICES OF THE PRODUCERS OF THE PROVINCE OF MANABÍ

Abstract

Defining models that allow interpreting agricultural activity is practically non-existent in Ecuador; For this reason, the objective was to interpret the agricultural activity supported by the training and adequate practices of the producers of the province of Manabí, taking advantage of the information offered by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) through the Surface Survey and Continuous Agricultural Production (ESPAC) of the year 2021, which is the calculation basis for the elaboration of indicators related to the training and adequate practices of agricultural producers; With these indicators, the interpretation methodology is developed, in order to delimit the agricultural activity by cantons. The methodology includes multivariate statistical analysis, where the factorial analysis of principal components with varimax rotation is first carried out in order to reduce the variables to a smaller number and that are not related; Subsequently, the k-means analysis (Cluster) is used for the interpretation of the agricultural activity supported by the adequate practices of the producers, that is, the groupings between the cantons that have similarities are sought, finally the discriminant analysis is used to validate interpretation. The result of the interpretation allows us to know how the agricultural activity behaves based on training and adequate practices, identifying groups of cantons with particularities in order to establish action measures that help strengthen training and adequate practices of agricultural activity.
