ACCOUNTING PROCESSES AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON DECISION-MAKING IN STORES IN THE CANTON OF TOSAGUA

Abstract
This research addresses accounting processes and their influence on decision-making in retail stores within the Tosagua canton. The general objective was to analyze the influence of accounting processes on decision-making, thereby determining whether the technical management of economic information generates competitive advantages for these stores. The study begins by establishing the theoretical foundations for the variables and their respective dimensions. A quantitative research approach was adopted, utilizing surveys as the primary data collection tool; furthermore, it was a field study, as data were gathered directly from the retail stores. Regarding the population and sample, the study utilized a registry of taxpayers holding municipal business licenses—obtained from the Tosagua Municipal Autonomous Decentralized Government—which identified a total of 70 retail stores. The study employed a descriptive-correlational scope; based on the findings, an analysis was conducted to evaluate specific survey questions, alongside data tabulation and reliability analysis performed using SPSS V26 and Excel. The results reveal that the majority of retail store owners in the Tosagua canton acknowledge and validate the importance of accounting processes as a fundamental pillar for sustainability, planning, and competitive advantage. It was concluded that maintaining proper accounting processes positively influences decision-making within retail stores in the Tosagua canton.
